London, 2010

For 2010/2011 Veedon Fleece has created four new carpet designs inspired by great works from the past three centuries; each with regard for the 21^st Century interior.

Sun King 

The original influence inspired by an 18^th Century cabinet designed by Philippe Montigny, which now resides in The Getty Museum.  Here restricted to three distinct colours, giving the finished carpet the depth and gravitas that its final placement demands. 

Woven in 100% luxurious silk.  400cm by 280cm

Old English  Soho

Imagine in the early 18^th Century the delight in the exquisite colour of elegant but opulent Soho tapestries woven in London.  This particular carpet pays homage to the original, which is believed to have been woven circa 1730.    It is thanks to our brilliant veedon yarns that we are now able to capture not only the exquisite balance, but jewel like character of this highly prized treasure from a world full of both the confidence and trepidations of today.  Woven in subtle veedon yarn.    420cm by 350cm

Josephine

This Damask, reminiscent of the great French Empire, is a more feminine design than our much admired and versatile classical damask design. 

We have created two different variations of this beautiful design; one in pure silk, with an expanded number of colours which is closer to the antique; the bi coloured version woven in soft green and subtle sea blue looks strikingly contemporary and will add a touch of timeless elegance to any room.

Woven in veedon and silk and all silk.  300cm by 240cm and 200cm by 150cm

Ruffled Feathers by Wendy Bray

A 20^th Century British design.  Feathers are extremely difficult to portray in this sort of diffused way but it is only by twisting and perhaps ruffling these delicate forms that the sort of movement that makes a good carpet great, can be evolved.  The eye is encouraged to dance around the carpet uniting any room in colour and form, making this bold, but joyous design, an easy delight for almost any interior.
